SHANGHAI IN A BOOK

Shanghai Girls
Shanghai Girls by Lisa See

A beautiful book filled with difficult, stunning and breath taking situations that keep you reading without time to process them.

It's a historic novel that makes reference to the misfortune of two Chinese sisters during the invasion of Japan to China and the beginning of the second world war.
It was really hard for me to read the hardship and despair they passed through their migration to the United States and their uncertain future. Each chapter and page made me shiver and pray for their security and happiness even though I knew they were not real characters.

I loved the redaction, it was an easy lecture for me even though my first language is Spanish. The characters were carefully created and defined in a certain way that I couldn't help but to feel identified specially with Pearl, the main character. The investigation work it's impeccable. A wonderful and 100% recommended book of drama, love, fights and envy between sisters. It's really a must.
